Totally Eclipsed

In May of 2012 there was plenty of excitement in the Albuquerque area because a Ring of Fire total eclipse was about to occur. As an astronomy buff and a photographer living in the southwest, I was beside myself because this was the best place in the nation to view this event and we were in the bullseye of the eclipse's shadow. Technically called an annular eclipse, it is when the moon is too far from earth in its orbit (during total eclipse) to completely block the sun, leaving a "ring of fire".
