So much of our African heritage has been stripped away from us-- our language, our culture, our religion, our family names. Using African symbols in designs, applying them to personal and everyday items, is for me, a way of bringing a little bit of our cultural heritage back into our daily lives. My designs combine African Adinkra and western symbols to express certain universal ideas and concepts. They are designs that celebrate holidays and special events in our lives.They are all hand- painted watercolor designs created to bring a little touch of Africa into our lives.
