Silver Strong

Two years ago, while the whole world was living through the challenges of COVID, our family was challenged even further. I was diagnosed with breast cancer. My oldest daughter Abby had just gone off to her freshman year in college. On top of that, my nephew also received and was facing a serious and scary health diagnosis of his own. Suffice it to say, the next 6 month to a year were the hardest we'd ever known. I received a lot of get well gifts while I was sick. One was a soft pink blanket filled with inspiring and warm words. I literally wrapped myself up in it. After treatment, as I worked to get stronger, I fell back into a daily yoga practice. I would take my pink blanket, spread it out in my great room and do my yoga. As I stood in downward dog, or plank, my eyes would focus on a different word. These words kept me going, particular on days when my body still hurt (and mind was still reeling). I already had a yoga mat, but these words became my motivation. I search high and low for an inspirational yoga mat but couldn't find one. I decided to figure out how to make my own, and I found Zazzle. I recruited the help of my super creative and talented daughter to help me design it. I gave her the words and she did the rest to create the Silver Strong Survivors Yoga Mat.
