I visited Katmai National Park in 2013 and was enchanted by the bears of Brooks Falls. My favorite bear had a large scar on his head at the time and sat very still with his head down to fish. My husband and I called him Sad Bear and took so many pictures of him. Later we learned that his name is Otis and that he is Katmai royalty. Otis is a 4-time Fat Bear Week Champion and beloved the world over. He is my muse.
