When I walk into my home, I look at the art on my wall and, no matter my day, at that moment my mood changes! Art, in pretty much any form or fashion, shifts my heART. We all should expect our surroundings to bring emotion to light – a smile, a deep-down good feeling, a soothing peace. I began creating my oil paintings using photographs. Seven years later, I'm jumping. Skipping. Doing. And loving every moment of creation. Moment to moment, I wish you JOY that is full and peace that is still each time you step into your home and lay eyes upon any painting, poster, or product purchased from Mama Js. They are created with joy in my heart and fire in my belly. On a more personal note: As a ‘Bahn and raised’ West Indian, roots, COLOR, and culture remain deep in my soul. The gracious, beautiful city of San Antonio, Texas, has been my home for over 30 years, and it's where I raised my three kiddos. During that time, the advertising world lent much significant experience. After which, the nonprofit arena had a hand in molding me as well. Together with a super talented team, our mission was to use digital art and music to create successful mindsets in children and families in underserved communities. Today, when not painting, I work with awesome students in a public school district as a Librarian Instructional Assistant.
