Über mich/uns
Indigo Mountain Nature Center, Inc. is a non profit animal sanctuary and education facility. The Sanctuary is devoted to rescuing and providing a lifetime home to a diverse population of captive-born wildlife, exotic animals and alternative pets. Currently the Center houses close to 80 animals ranging from black bears, wolfdogs, coydogs, Bengal cats, sugar gliders and hedgehogs.
Many of the animals came to the Center from Animal Control confiscations, others from backyard breeders that had been closed down. Some came from defunct pseudo-sanctuaries or from rescuers that got in over their heads. Owner surrenders are by far the leading source of animals in need of our care. Regardless of their past, we make a promise to provide a lifetime of the highest level of care that enhances their lives and gives them the ability to rehabilitate and heal physically and emotionally. This Total Care Approach is multi-faceted. We design habitats that encourage each species’ natural behaviors, sharpen their minds and provide plenty of exercise. We provide appropriate medical and nutritional care for each individual’s needs. We provide behavioral enrichment to keep these intelligent, independent and intense animals happy and challenged throughout their day. Our Total Care Approach also puts a considerable focus on the emotional and mental needs of each animal. This helps us save each animal, mind and body… one at a time.
