HydroAwareness

My husband was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus at age twelve... no injury, no illness, just a sudden onset of severe headaches that led to his diagnosis. During his 17th shunt revision in 2010, he suffered a brain tear when the neurosurgeon removed the old shunt. As a result he is now permanently disabled, and deals with short term memory loss, reasoning problems, dizziness, sensitivity to noise and lights, nerve pain, becomes easily fatigued, and his brain can become over stimulated incredibly quickly. In his honor, and with the input of others in the Hydrocephalus community, I designed the two toned Hydrocephalus awareness ribbon. The light blue represents children, the dark blue is for adults, and the water droplet is the cerebrospinal fluid. My goal is to increase Hydrocephalus awareness around the world. We need better treatments, and this requires research. Research requires funding. People donate to causes they are familiar with. Help those with Hydrocephalus by spreading awareness... encourage them to donate to research. Together we can make a difference!
