My photos are intended to be FUN, not to suggest that alligators make good pets. They do not. They are dangerous, expensive, and require an extensive amount of space, time / training and patience just to become "docile" - they are never domesticated. Alligators are legal pets in this area, irresponsible pet owners often buy these animals at reptile shows for just $100.00. Within a year, this baby alligator will almost triple in size - that's when people decide to dump them in the wild. To do that is a guaranteed death warrant for an alligator as they cannot survive the cold weather. Because they are not soft and fuzzy this is something that most people either never think about or they just don't care. Well, I care. Alligators are SO much smarter than people give them credit for. They are also not "aggressive" animals, they would prefer to get away from you than eat you. Of course there are exceptions, breeding season, nests, etc. but they are not actively aggressive like crocodiles are. My intention is to make LillyGator appear cute, to make people understand that these animals are not man eating dinosaurs, they are AMAZING and the closest thing that you and I will ever get to a real live dinosaur. Yes, she will continue to grow and as long as I am physically able, I will keep her and adjust her living quarters as necessary. If the day comes where I can no longer properly care for her, I will make sure that she is placed somewhere that she will be happy.
