I paint nearly everyday and I make jewelry almost as often. I have always been interested in art and have always been encouraged in pursuing my talent. The content of my painting is inspired by my observations of nature and of people. The relationship between the organic lines in nature and the structured lines of the human figure create balance in my portfolio; this balance connects all of my pieces together. The process by which I paint further connects my work. The canvas plays an important part in my painting. I stretch my canvas using recycled fabric. Sometimes I find remnants at fabric stores or I use old t-shirts or other clothing to create my own canvas. By starting from scratch, I become more involved in my work. My jewelry is inspired by looking at my mom’s jewelry as a little girl. She has several of her grandmother’s brooches and I have always loved looking at them. I carry this with me and use it in my own jewelry. I mostly make brooches with designs inspired by nature. I enjoy working with copper; and like my paintings, I use recycled materials to create my jewelry. I find my materials in bottle caps, mint tins, jar lids, and other tin that I find. I also make earrings, necklaces, and bracelets with prominent nature designs.
