Candy Waters Autism Artist

Candy Waters is 17 years old, has autism and is nonverbal but is able to speak through her art and be heard around the world. Candy is a published artist with her art book titled "Unspoken Gift ~ Candy Waters Autism Art" available on Amazon. Candy's paintings have inspired the WORLD!! The University of California, Irvine Magazine is using Candy's "Mr. Sun" painting for the cover of their 2013 Summer Issue that sheds light on UCI’s efforts to help those affected by autism. Candy's Sun paintings have been featured on CBS Sunday Morning News Show. Also, countless TV segments and internet blogs have been done on Candy's Amazing Art. The money raised from the sale of Candy's Art will be saved for Candy's future in her own Special Needs Trust. We use many different painting techniques with Candy (original art, proxy, facilitated, collaborative, hand over hand...etc) We are honored to be her humble helpers and sometimes teachers as any parents would do for their child. Candy's Art has given our family the opportunity to come together and bond in order to create a real connection. Art has made our family stronger ~ Art Can Heal When you have a disabled child you have to think outside of the box in every aspect of their life in order to enable them to achieve success. Through the years Candy has come a long way with her art and her abilities. Children who have autism are able to achieve great things no matter where they are on the Autism Spectrum. Our job as parents and caregivers is to help them find what they like and enable/help them to pursue their passion. This is true for all disabilities.
