Black Angel Designs started quite by accident. I only set out to make a few kitchen signs to sell with our hot sauce business, Black Angel Saucery. However, once we added the Chicago flag and Chicago map heart signs, sales picked up. Chicagoans are extremely loyal sports fan, so as soon as we debuted the sports lines, we were off to the races. I've always been interested in Chicago history, so that was the next logical direction to try. Researching the photos and stories behind them is an awesome way to connect with our great city. I love the challenge of coming up with new items for different occasions and the slow process of making the signs can be a great escape from our hectic lives.
