I have been making things as long as I can remember. I guess I learned it from my mom, who learned it from her mom, who learned it from her mom. I come from a long line of crafty women. I remember in elementary school, I would absolutely LOVE any project that could possibly involve making something. I used to spend hours and hours cutting paper to finish projects. I would never actually draw anything - I would cut every detail out of paper. It just looked better. After college I got a job involving my three loves - science, food, and creating - working as a food scientist for a company that primarily made ice cream and yogurt flavors. I got to WORK creating and eating new ice cream flavors and combos. It was awesome. However, I decided after a couple of years that I wanted to raise my kids as a stay at home mom. Being at home with my two kids was fun (and challenging) but I found myself missing the constant creativity. I tried getting back into some of my old hobbies - scrapbooking, random decor DIYing - but I couldn't get into it. Several of my friends talked me into trying out digital scrapbooking. That was when it all changed. "Crafting" on the computer was so much easier with a toddler and a baby. It made no mess for them to get into and I could start and stop whenever I had a free moment. I began to make all kinds of signs, gifts, and decor for my house. Finally, I decided to take the "just try it, even if you don't know everything" advice I always give to my daughter and listed some of my things to sell! And thus, AMPitup Designs was born. A name which kept getting stuck in my head as a play off my initials. A name also, by the way, in which my husband constantly teases me about (because it is, *cough admittedly *cough, cheesy).
