Tiger's Head (by Abott Handerson Thayer)

This design features a painting by American artist Abott Handerson Thayer (1849–1921), who is particularly known for his portraits of animals. It shows the head of a Bengal tiger staring straight at the viewer; the animal is standing behind tall grasses. The tiger (Panthera tigris) is the largest species of cat in existence. It is easily recognized by its black vertical stripes and white patches on orange-brown fur. Tigers are an endangered species that currently live in India, Sumatra and Siberia. Moreover, the tiger is the national animal of India, Bangladesh, Malaysia and South Korea. The original painting was first completed in 1874.
