O Sapientia Icon of Holy Wisdom Advent Ornament Aus Metall

The first of the seven O Antiphon ornaments, this design honors O Sapientia — O Wisdom, the divine Word who orders all things mightily and sweetly. The O Antiphons are ancient Advent prayers sung since the early Church, each invoking a prophetic title of Christ in the days leading to Christmas. At the center gleams the 1812 Russian icon “Sophia, the Holy Wisdom”, showing the fiery figure of Wisdom enthroned, the Blessed Mother with the Christ Child above, and the seven pillars of the Holy Spirit rising heavenward. Around them stand the patriarchs and prophets who awaited the coming of Christ. The sacred image rests within an illuminated medieval-style “O” adorned with red and blue-gray flourishes, outlined in white. The reverse side continues the blue-gray background and bears the words “O Sapientia”, followed by the full English translation of the antiphon in graceful calligraphy. A beautiful way to begin the final days of Advent, this ornament forms part of the complete O Antiphon series, which in turn belongs to the larger Jesse Tree collection—tracing salvation history from Creation to Christ’s birth.
