Lord Shiva is a principal deity in Hinduism, known as the "Destroyer" within the Trimurti (Creator Brahma, Preserver Vishnu, Destroyer Shiva), but his destruction is constructive, leading to recreation and transformation, symbolizing cosmic cycles of death and rebirth. He embodies paradoxes as the great ascetic and sensuous lover, the fierce avenger (Rudra), and the benevolent yogi, often depicted meditating in the Himalayas, with his wife Parvati, and sons Ganesha and Kartikeya.
