Three annunciation angels

'Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you'. The narrative of Mary's encounter with the archangel Gabriel is both beautiful and touching. When I look at pictures of the event, it seems very important to me that Gabriel is depicted in the 'right' way, I want the archangel to be both otherworldly and to have compassionate insight into human life. Here I have collected three annunciation angels that have, so to speak, passed my filter: Fra Angelico's, Sano di Pietro's and Edward Burne-Jones'. I hope you like these angels, too!
