Miranda and Silence

The Miranda Warning is a legal requirement in the United States that police officers must provide to individuals who are under arrest or in custody before interrogating them. It informs the individuals of their rights under the U.S. Constitution, particularly the Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination and the Sixth Amendment right to an attorney. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. Right to an Attorney: “You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you.
