Hot Springs was established by act of congress as a federal reserve on April 20, 1832, as such it is the oldest park managed by the National Park Service. Although known primarily for its bath houses and natural springs Hot Springs National Park is comprised of 5,549.75 acres. The six mountains (Hot Springs, Indian, North, West, Music and Sugarloaf) include 25 miles of marked hiking trails through its diverse rainforest. Each season offers, photographers, birders, hikers etc. an ever changing variety of wildlife and fauna to enjoy. Its forest covered mountains cradle the Historic District of the city Hot Springs making it the only National Park in an urban area.
