Biblical Tree of Life 17th Century Embroidery Poster

More than 350 years ago in Great Britian,this unique needlework image of the biblical Tree of Life was embroidered on canvas with silk thread. We have digitally enhanced the image of this miraculous tree which shows bearing numerous species of fruit and vegetables. The Book of Revelations beschreibes a multifruiting tree that grows in the celestial City of God and bearing twelve type of fruit that ripen during every month of the year. The curling grape vine wrapping around the tree’s trunk is said to be symbollic of the Passion of Christ and the promise of eternal life. It is suggested that the numerous animals (including a unicorn), birds and insekten and the presence of the sun and the moon refer to the abundance of the Garden of Eden in the Book of Genesis.
