Über mich/uns

THE PROFESSIONAL PART Before I had kids, I was a marketing copywriter and web content writer. Now I'm a work-at-home-mom trying to tame chaos on a daily basis. Figuring I should use my degree in journalism, I started to freelance write in 2004. When I'm not freelancing, I work as president of the board of directors and WebMom for the Carbon Valley Academy, a public charter school in Frederick, Colorado. I also write grants for the school. I produce the Tri-Town MOMS Club newsletter and manage their website. I also write an e-newsletter for MOTHERS (MothersOughtToHaveEqualRights.org) and am the WebMOTHER for the MOTHERS Book Bag, a book group blog. I have many personal and professional blogs and websites which you can view at www.motherofmanyblogs.com. I also sell Usborne books. You can view my online catalog at www.usbornebookmama.com. If I can't make money writing books - you try writing the Great American Novel with a two-year-old in the house - I might as well make money selling them. Usborne books are wonderful and I'm thrilled to be affiliated with them. THE PERSONAL PART Born in New York City, I spent my childhood on the Jersey Shore thus my obsession with Bruce Springsteen. My teens and twenties were spent in Southern California, specifically San Diego County where my mom (aka Mémé) still lives and Long Beach. I have one sibling, Michele (aka Auntie Mimi), who's married to Ingmar (aka Uncle Ingo the Swedish Poster Boy). Michele has two sons, the mini-Vikings, Oliver and Adam (who have no aka's yet). They live in Switzerland. After following my then boyfriend, now husband Paul (aka Big Bad Dad) from San Diego, to Colorado, to Chicagoland and back to Colorado, I find myself living on the plains in a former mining and farming town. We have a gorgeous view of the Rocky Mountains when we drive into town, which makes living in suburban hell somewhat worth it. I have two kids, both preemies. They are the loves of my life even though they are slowly sucking it out of me. Nathan (aka Monkey Boy) is six and is in fulltime kindergarten. Lucie (aka Boo Girl) is three and thinks she's ready for college. Needless to say, I'm way too busy and my house is a disaster. But it makes the day go fast and I'm having lots of fun when I'm not cleaning up after my family.
